A man with 560 piercings, countless tattoos, and forehead implants – this is how he looked before

When you look at Rolf Buchholz today, it’s hard to believe he was once a completely ordinary office employee.

Originally from the German city of Dortmund, Rolf earned a university degree in telecommunications and worked for many years at a major IT company.

He was quiet, almost invisible. But inside him lived something more — a longing for freedom, self-expression, and the breaking of conventions.

He got his first tattoo after turning 40. Then came the first piercing. Then the second. And so began a journey that would eventually lead to a world record.

Today, Rolf has over 560 piercings, including more than 170 on his face and 278 in his intimate areas.

His appearance is further enhanced by a split tongue, subdermal implants shaped like horns in his forehead, and a body almost entirely covered in tattoos.

All of this earned him a Guinness World Record as the “person with the most body modifications.”

But for Rolf, it’s not just about records or appearances. He says body modification is a form of freedom, an art that he wears on his body. According to him, he didn’t become a different person — he simply allowed the world to see who he truly is inside.

And indeed, behind the intimidating appearance is an intelligent, friendly, and witty man. He speaks calmly, smiles often, and is very approachable.

His appearance provokes strong and divided reactions. Some look at him with admiration, others with disgust or fear.

In 2014, he was even denied entry to Dubai for “security reasons” — he says airport security suspected he was… a black magician.
