His daughter, whom everyone had already mourned, was alive. A state of lethargic sleep – extremely rare and almost undetectable without deep diagnosis – had fooled the doctors. She had been prematurely declared dead. But how did Dakota know? The answer was found later. The dog had been trained to detect even the slightest changes in the girl’s breathing and pulse – she had suffered from seizures that made her vital signs almost disappear. Dakota had already saved her life several times by alerting the parents before the ambulance arrived. And this time, when the doctors had given up, Dakota knew it wasn’t death.
