The Blind Dog And His ‘Eyes’ Best Friend Were Adopted Together In The Best House.

Touching story of a blind dog and a cat with eyes

The lifeguards thought they would have a hard time accepting the eight-year-old best friends they’ve spent their lives together. But the shelter didn’t expect that thousands of animal lovers would be captivated by Spike and Max’s touching story.

Dogs and cats don’t always get along. In some cases they are best friends who always help each other in difficult times. We wrote about the cat who comforted his anxious canine cousin while their human was away. Now, we have a blind dog that navigates life with the help of a “seeing” cat.

According to Global News, 8-year-old Spike and his cat BFF Max were injured at the Saving Grace Animal Association in Alberta, Canada, after their owners realized they could no longer care for them. The couple has lived in a shelter with cold winters, and Spike and Max clearly deserve a cozy (and safer) life indoors.

“The center received a call regarding an elderly dog and a cat in their neighborhood who said that with colder temperatures like this, they were just unsure if they were having a good quality of life. live fit or not,” the shelter’s executive director, Erin Deems, recalls. When rescuers arrived at the house, they found Spike and Max curled up inside their little tent, hugging to keep warm.

Deems said: ‘The cat just helped him on his little survival journey. “They follow each other everywhere, they do everything together, and they sleep together.”

Saving Grace is happy to help Spike and Max get adopted, but they are also determined to find this loving couple a new home together. This can be difficult, because people are often afraid to adopt older animals – let alone two 8-year-old pets – but shelters are willing to wait for the right family.

Best wishes to Spike and Max in their new home

“They came as friends and they deserve to find a home together,” Deems said. “We found that it would only make a transition for an elderly dog who was blind, it would be a lot easier if his feline friend stayed with them because they don’t know life apart.”

As it turned out, the shelter was flooded with questions about Spike and Max as their touching story was shared widely on Facebook. This overwhelming interest helped rescuers adopt the blind dog and its ‘seeing and hearing’ cat into a “perfect” family.

“Spike & Max is officially ADOPTED and they are on their way home to their new mom!” The rescue force is happy to announce on Facebook. “Thank you so much to everyone who shared their stories – they found the perfect home all the way in Manitoba.”
