Lately, I’ve been spending many nights studying, which is exhausting me a lot. Sometimes, I just lie down on the bed without changing, and I fall asleep in seconds. I haven’t been giving enough time to my dog.

Yesterday, I was particularly tired and decided to sleep for a few hours. I woke up with a start because of my dog barking. I felt a chill of fear because he was barking right in front of me, and it was so loud.

At first, I thought he just wanted to go outside, so I grabbed his collar. But he didn’t move. He had laid down on the floor, eyes fixed under the bed, without breaking his stare, as if something invisible was there.

I thought one of his toys must be stuck under the bed, and he couldn’t reach it. I went closer to help him.

And then, when I looked under the bed, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe my eyes…

I stepped closer and took a peek under the bed.

I saw a quick movement.

A small animal was trembling under the bed, its eyes wide open, terrified.

It was a squirrel, very tiny, looking completely panicked.

Maybe it had been trying to hide somewhere and, upon seeing my dog, it got scared to come out.

It looked exhausted, its paws trembling with fear.

I began speaking softly, not to scare it even more, while trying to figure out a solution.

I had no idea how it had gotten into the room, but the scene felt almost unreal.

Finally, after a few seconds, the squirrel, in a panic, leaped out from under the bed and rushed toward the open window.

I sighed, a bit embarrassed by the whole scene, but I couldn’t help smiling thinking about the squirrel, which had finally found a way out.
