“I’ll marry the first person who walks through that door!” — declared the company owner. But he was literally speechless with terror when the door opened…😲

“I’ll marry the first person who walks through that door!” — said Alex Carter, nervously fiddling with a button on his sleeve. He tried to hide his panic, but his entire being screamed: the end is near.

Once, his name echoed in the fashion world. Today — a contract on which the brand’s future depended. One signature could bring the company back to life… but there was a catch. Potential partners only recognized “family men” — with a wife or at least a fiancée. Single bachelors like him had no place there.

The office sank into oppressive silence. Even the air conditioner seemed off. Standing beside him was his old friend and deputy, Mark Thompson, with half-feigned calmness.

“Alex, you’re such a dramatist. Do you really think the contract will slip away because you don’t have a ring? Make up a story, find an actress…”

But Alex shook his head. His voice sounded like a verdict:

“No. I will marry. The first person who walks through that door!”

“You’ve lost it…” Mark chuckled hoarsely. “I hope it’s cleaning lady Gloria. She’s been eyeing you for a while ”

Alex just shrugged. He had challenged fate — and fate didn’t keep him waiting.

There was a knock.

They both froze. Their hearts began to beat nervously. The knock repeated. Mark whispered:

“I think your ‘wife’ has arrived…”

😱 The door creaked open… Alex turned pale with fear, and Mark’s face twisted in shock. What they saw defied all expectations.

The door opened, and on the threshold appeared… not a glamorous beauty in a designer dress. A girl with a dimmed gaze, wearing a worn dress and a shabby backpack on her shoulders, hesitantly entered the room.

Her shoes were battered, her hair tied in a messy bun, and her face — without a trace of makeup.  She looked as if she hadn’t come to a fashion office but to seek shelter.

Mark barely held back a laugh, glancing at Alex. The latter stood still. He had expected anyone — a former beauty queen, an ambitious career woman, another status hunter. But certainly not her.

“Excuse me… I’m here for an interview. I got the address by email,” the girl said quietly.

Alex stepped closer. Her voice was fragile but firm. Suddenly he said:

“I’ll marry the first person who walks through that door!” — declared the company owner

“I’ll hire you… but on one condition. You’ll have to temporarily play the role of my fiancée. It’s important for the success of the deal. You will get a salary and an additional reward if everything goes well.”
